gamma rays 3
bad news crew..... i am not having any success with getting my new mixtape up!!! ill try to deal with it when i get back, but it is another 3 weeks!
Things are going good over here..... we are just finishing up dodgeball/floor hockey week and it has been awesome. There is little that is more satisfying than hearing the thud of the dodgeballs hit a target... mainly the kids. The first few days were interesting because the kids thought that it hurt when the balls hit them, but in most cases it was the sound that was more scary.
I do have to take credit for hitting a few kids in the face with a ball..... like 5-6. but in my defense.... the kids are small targets, and they duck and move a whole lot. I have had some flashbacks of Billy Madison, and i am adam sandler just ruining the kids. It is rad.
everything else is going smoothly! hope to see everyone soon after i get back!

Transformers 2
So today is the fourth here, and last night Transformers 2 came onto base (for only $3). I was not a huge fan.... here is why.....
1. They over used the transforming, and it became something that was put in not to transition, but to fill up empty spots. Why do the Autobots need to change while they are jumping out of a plane, then turn into a regular car, then back to themselves when they are about to get hit.... its not fooling anyone, and i would imagine that they would be much faster if they were running and jumping instead of driving 65 mph.....
2. The love story was terrible in this one..... Usually i am a sucker for romance in action movies... i.e. spiderman, but i was super disappointed! The fact that shia lebouf had megan fox was stupid! megan fox seemed to be a piece of eye candy in this one rather than the fox (lolz) in the first movie.... plus no college dorm looks like the one sam lived in.... unless he was down in florida.... (maybe) it would be like that.
3. Megan Fox's mouth was open the whole movie....
4. I got tired of the dumb comments that everyone in the movie had to make... The twins were annoying and reminded me of the ying yang twins in Autobot form..... stupid, using slang, and being funny because of how much they sucked!
5. They still didnt have the original transformers theme song.....
But with every bad thing i have to say.....
the best part was when Optimis Prime got hooked up with the old Decepticon's gear and went and rocked the bad guys on top of the pyramid.... so rad...
I was also a huge fan of the folklore that was included in the story.... how optimis prime is pretty much a gangsta, and doesnt take crap from anyone!
Predictions
I had one friend predict that either optimis prime will die and Bumblebee will find out that he is really a prime.
or
Bumblebee dies and leaves Sam with a new transformer....
Thanks for checking out the rant....
j
p.s. starscream is a dope name for a transformer.....

japan 6/19

my first week of camp is done!
It was an awesomely exausting week with a whole lot of drama!!! i dont think that it could have gone any other way though...
First the kids were nuts! they have energy for days, and it is very exuasting dealing with 10 to 15 kids. I was paired up with the 12 to 15 year olds, and it was a challenge. They are all way too concerned with being too cool so it makes it very difficult to keep them in line. I think that for the most part, the kids are good but when they get around their friends they forget to be sensable and like to do what ever their hormones tell them to....
I also worked with all the kids in all ages and i can safely say that i made the right decision on not becoming an elementary school teacher. I love the fact that the kids love songs and dont care about looking silly, but they are so hard to keep settled down! I can't imagine what a parent goes through! so for that, THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!!! i finally have a small idea of what it means to be a parent!
Finally we had two of the most adorrible little japanese kids..... they were so awesome! i dont want to post their names for safety on both ends, but they were amazing! They always had little bento lunches and they looked almost exactly alike.... so cute! their mom even gave us little goodie bags for working in the camp!!!!
So with another blog post up... (sorry for the delay) i hope that things are well with everyone back home, and i hope that the summer has been as amazing summer for you!

Japan 6/6
Today was the first day off. We headed up to Yokohama, and checked out Chinatown and went to Bape! it was really rad, but super expensive. We broke up from 3 others in our group and then tried to find the Ramen Museum, but we had no luck. We also met this weird Japanese dude who was terrible with directions..... oh well
Hmm, what else? the weather has been rain and clouds most of the time. Nothing to brag about.
Rumor has it, that there is a liquor that is called Kabusaki. It is intense! i havent tried any and i dont intend to, but it is basically an alcohol that has venomous snakes that were drownded in it. The venom from the snakes gets mixed up with the alcohol and it makes for a very potent drink. crazy stuff!
I will be trying to post some pictures and other things to fill everyone in on what is going on in the land of the rising sun!

Japan 5/31
My first whole day in japan has been long!!! we toured most of the base, then came back for some down time. A few things from the first day......
1) I found the most rad store.... its like american apparel, but cheaper...... jeans for $10, tees for 3-4, button ups for 15....... amazing
2) Ramen is awesome, and i want to make my own homemade, today i had a spicy-miso ramen that was amazing.
3) I am excited to work with all of the other couselors, they are all super cool and nice.
4) waking up before 10 isnt so tough when it is 1 or 2 o'clock at home.
5) wireless internet sucks when it isnt in your room :(
i miss everyone at home and i will be trying to get my camera to work... grrr and also blogging much more!

The best thing
A few days ago i found the best thing ever.... bed sheets!
There is nothing better, not only are they clean but they smell good as well. I slept so good after changing them too! It was a catalyst for a great next day. This has motivated me to change my sheets more often and stay on top of making my bed.... it makes for such a nice bedtime
What else is the best thing ever?

Louis Armstrong

So I'm in class and we watched a clip on Louis Armstrong, and they are talking about how he was the driving force that clarified the direction of jazz and was the one who made Jazz relevent. This got me thinking about Hip-Hop, who would you decide is equivelent to louis armstrong?
The biggest and best comparison to Louis Armstrong in the hip hop world would be Kanye West. I hate to say it but with his release of 808's and Heartbreaks, he has really set a new direction for Hip-Hop. One of the largest factors of Armstrong was the fact that he pierced the novelty of Jazz just as Kanye West has done with his tracks "Heartless" and "Love Lockdown"
I am curious to find out what you readers have to say about it!!

My new Hypothesis

Finally I have a bit of time to write, finals were not fun... blah! Anyways, I have finally figured out what I am missing from my blog, a piece on something that bugs me.. hopefully this will keep up for a bit.
I hate unoriginality.
I have noticed this before but could never put my finger down on it, and it had just came to me a few days ago. I hate people who don't do their own thing. The people who wear Ed Hardy, buy designer jeans and listen to whatever is on Z100. It makes me want to vomit, seriously. I admit that ed hardy does present some cool designs but then messes them up with whatever grundge brush the photoshop artist google searches to find. gross.
And music too! Music is about feelings and emotions, who wants to hear flo rida rap about getting low all the time? OH and BTW i hate when girls come into a party and assume they can control the music!!! why? even if you are pretty, we are not going to listen to 80s music no matter how funny and obscure you think it is. The Eurythmics need to stay in the 80s; there is more than one reason why they still arent producing music.
Obviously not everyone can live a completely original life, i understand that, but it is more about making original choices. ponder that

long ass day in eugene
Every time i have ventured down into Eugene i seem to not have a good time. But the cycle has been broken!! Even though i was enduring some 14 hours of training on a solid 3 hours of sleep, i have found the real reason i enjoy Eugene.... The food!!! today i went to an amazing resturaunt called Sweet Basil. It is a Thai resturaunt that still puts out amazing food in a flash. The kitchen was in plain sight, and featured a two person rotation on the grills cooking up some seroius treats. I got a fat, flour noodle dish with fried tofu, lettuce, bean sprouts, broccoli, carrot and an amazing peanut sauce!!!! so good and as much as i cant afford it, i really want to go back tomorrow....
no new music, no new clothes, but a new perspective on how far i can go....... and the things that can be rexamined to reveal an amazing new discovery.

GAMMA RAYS VOL. 1
My new mixtape is here!!!!!!
Its called Gamma Rays vol. 1; spread the word!!
It is an eclectic blend of music,
but a taste of what i have been listening to within the last few days. Let me know if you have any new songs, cds or artists that i need to listen to.
For those of you who love soulful music, check out BJ the Chicago Kid. I just listened to a cover of him singing Sam
Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come," and I am blown away.... beautiful check the link after the jump
There is a huge movement in hip-hop, the revitalization of old school style and old school drum kits. The most prominent e
xamples are the Cool Kids, but there seems to be more than just one group like that. I just checked out the new Pacific Division track called Mayor

They bring the heat on this track so check it out!
Fashion

Even though I have next to nothing for money i still love expensive, limited edition street wear brands, and i just took a look at Supreme's new line up.... check it out here
Much love, let me know how it is going!

4. Valentine
5. Wanna Be Good
but the rest of the cd is stupid good.
